Capital City Savings and Credit Union thrives because our branches are deeply rooted in the communities we serve. As a member-owned credit union, it's only natural that we help build up neighbourhoods such as yours by supporting worthy causes. Besides seeking to improve members' financial well-being, we invest significant time, energy and money to enhance the quality of life for everyone in the communities where we live and work.

It's in reaching out to you and your neighbours that Capital City Savings becomes more than branches. Embracing the philosophy of "people helping people", we strive to make a significant, positive impact through strategic sponsorships, thoughtful donations and targeted fundraising. As community needs arise, we lend a helping hand at the corporate and branch levels as well as through our Community Councils, We Care Employee Volunteer Program, CommunityChoice Plan and Capital City Savings Kids Foundation.

The members, Board of Directors and employees of Capital City Savings enthusiastically support our community investments. In 2001, we reviewed our existing Community Investment Guidelines and conducted a stakeholder survey of members, employees and Community Councils.  They identified the following priority areas, since approved by the Board as our revised Community Investment Policy and Funding Guidelines:

  • Youth
  • Education
  • Social Agencies
  • Physically/Mentally Challenged
  • Seniors
  • Others

Because we're more than branches, community contributions will always be a fundamental commitment for Capital City Savings. After all, our roots are here, and so is our future.

In 2002, Capital City Savings received the Edmonton Philanthropy Day "Outstanding Corporation" Award for our commitment and financial support of the community and for our encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement. This award is presented annually by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in celebration of philanthropy in our community.
